About the role:

We are seeking a Senior Legal Manager, based in Amman, Jordan for a leading insurance company, who will be responsible for delivering clear, authoritative legal advice across the full spectrum of corporate, commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters. The Senior Legal Manager will guide contract drafting and negotiation, support operational teams, oversee litigation and external advisors, and drive best-practice governance. The position plays a key part in risk management and decision-making, ensuring the business operates in full alignment with Jordanian law while enabling long-term growth and commercial execution.

Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Governance

  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership on corporate and commercial matters.
  • Ensure governance frameworks align with Jordanian law and internal policies.
  • Support board and committee activities with accurate legal guidance.

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with clients, partners, and suppliers.
  • Develop standard templates and ensure consistent contractual risk controls.
  • Monitor contract compliance and oversee timely renewals or amendments.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Interpret and implement Jordanian regulatory requirements across all business units.
  • Lead compliance audits and ensure corrective actions are executed.
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulators and respond to enquiries.

Dispute Resolution & Litigation

  • Manage all litigation, arbitration, and external counsel engagement.
  • Provide risk-based advice on disputes, settlements, and claim strategies.
  • Oversee document preservation, evidence collection, and case reporting.

Risk Management & Policy Development

  • Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies across operations.
  • Develop, update, and roll out internal legal and compliance policies.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments for new initiatives and market activities.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with HR, Finance, Compliance, and Operations on legal matters.
  • Deliver legal training to internal teams on key risk areas.
  • Support business development initiatives with timely legal input.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university; Masters degree (LLM) preferred.
  • 8 years plus post-qualification experience in an insurance company, with corporate and commercial in-house exposure.
